Transcripts will be issued to students following completion of their studies unless they owe fees or, in the case of some male students, unless they have not completed the military service that is typically undertaken following undergraduate studies.

In Iran, each academic institution decides individually on the format of their academic records.  Some will supply them on plain paper without a stamp while other will stamp the pages.  Some universities issue transcripts in English rather than Persian.

It is the responsibility of students to have academic documents translated for international use.  There are numerous private translation companies approved by the Iranian Ministry of Justice.  After completion, the translated document and its original are expected to be taken by students to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be stamped.  The ministry’s stamp does not authenticate the documents but certifies that the presented document appears to be a true copy and true translation of the original.

Some institutions do not provide academic records in sealed envelopes and/or do not release student records to others than the student or an authorized representative who visits their institution in person. In such cases, EducationUSA Iran would urge flexibility to the extent that your institutional policies permit.  Some Iranian universities will answer queries on student status from U.S. institutions (though they vary in their responsiveness). U.S. credential evaluation agencies that have experience with Iranian credentials can also review documents and determine their likely validity. Discuss the situation with the individual student to determine the merits of their case and how well submitted academic documents match with other indicators of admissions qualification.
